Beatty Crew R-42 (918) Summary
The Beatty Replacement Crew arrived at North Pickenham during July. After getting some in-house training they were assigned to the 859th BS on 18 Jul 44, designated as Crew 918.
Our records concur with the crew's claim that they flew 5 missions and an aborted one with the 492nd. We haven't confirmed who was on each of those missions, but suspect that the entire crew was.
The crew transferred to the 467th BG on 10 Aug 44 when the Group was disbanded. They were assigned to the 788th BS, designated as Crew 18. At some point Lt Schorr replaced Lt Geedy as the co-pilot. We aren't sure if that happened before or after they were transferred.
The crew went on to complete 35 combat missions, plus a handful of trucking operations that kept Patton supplied as he was racing across France.
