G Miller Crew R-37 (913) Summary

The Gayle Miller Replacement Crew arrived in North Pickenham in July. After some in-house training they were assigned without a bombardier to the 859th BS to replace the Newman Crew 913.
|
|
According to the Crew's count they flew 11 missions for the 492nd. They used a bombardier from the Bombardier's Pool. We have learned that there was one substitution. Dean had filled in for Goodman, but we don't know on which missions.

The Gayle Miller Crew transferred to the 467th BG on 10 Aug 44. There they were assigned to the 788th BS and were designated as Crew 13.
|
|
Their second mission (16 Aug 44) with the 467th proved fatal. They were hit by flak as they were approaching their target. Their ship broke in two at the waist windows. All ten men were killed. MACR 8423.
