We (my brother Paul and I) couldn't stand idly by and let that happen, so we stepped up to the plate to keep this fine organization flying. Today, Tuesday, April 20, 2010, we hosted our third annual function. This year it was held at the Phoenix Deer Valley Airport restaurant, just a few yards from where the B-24 Liberator of the Collings Foundation was parked.
We attended our first ALG luncheon in 2006. Of course, our dad, Charles Arnett, had served on a B-24 crew and that's how we got involved. Come to think of it, that's how we got involved in the 492nd.
Some Arizona Liberator Group photos...
Being the web-building nerd that I am, I've created the ArizonaLiberatorGroup.org website where details and photos of this as well as previous events can be found.
If anyone out there knows of someone living in Arizona that might have an interest in participating in the Arizona Liberator Group, don't hesitate to let us know.

Great article, Dave.
Sorta sad to see as the photos got closer and closer to our time and day, the smiling faces began to disappear from the photos. less and less of them.
I'm sure the veterans had a great time this past Tuesday. That Collings Foundation is a class organization.

David,
Thanks for the blog. And may I add you and Paul did an excellent job with the luncheon. I think everybody there had a great time. I know I did.
And, having all seven of my children there was a definite added plus for me.
Love you,
Mom

We saw men fall one way, and there parachuttes another. You still see their faces. The wings liked to food up once hit? by flak, if you were in a bird and that happened you could say goodbye. They were a mighty aircraft, and me and mycrew owe our lives to her for bring us back every time, well most of us
