A big change has taken place with our 492nd blogs.
I've devoted a tremendous amount of energy this year immersing myself in learning WordPress, a popular, powerful and versatile content management system used primarily for blogging. Armed with this new knowledge, I've integrated a custom WordPress installation into our 492ndBombGroup.com website.
Perhaps it's greatest strength is in the commenting system I've written. The comments below this blog show how a comment can be made on a blog, how a comment can be made on a comment and how the blog author's reply to a comment is displayed. This should allow for a meaningful display of discussions on a blog's topic. The first group of comments below is a demonstration of comments and replies from me to myself. I think I've developed a split personality typing posting those.
My commenting system uses images from gravatar.com. If you register an e-mail address and corresponding image of yourself with gravatar.com, then any comment you post to our blogs will display your gravatar image. If no image is found, then a blank silohuette image will be shown. Your gravatar images can be used on any gravatar-enabled site on the web.
What's needed now are some 492nd blog authors interested in contributing on a regular basis, which may mean once a week to some, once a month to others. The more blog authors we can recruit, the more engaging these blogs will become.
492nd blog authors will be able to upload and include images in their blogs as shown in this blog. It gets a little tricky, but I'm here to assist, instruct and even fix problems that may arise.
If interested, you can let me know by commenting on this blog. Check the "Make this comment private" checkbox to prevent the general public from being able to read your message. Give me your phone number and such (which will be hidden from public view) and we'll talk and I'll get you set up.

All right David,
I'll start the ball rolling by commenting on my own blog using a different e-mail address that has a different gravatar image associated with it, just to see how it displays and how your subsequent reply will be displayed.

Dave,
Thanks for commenting. As the author of the blog, the background color here is different to make it stand out. Also, take note that the gravatar image is different than the one at the bottom of the blog.

David,
Interesting how the comments are nested. How deep will they thread like this?

Dave,
The "comment on this comment" link will continue five levels deep, although I can bump that up to ten in the future should it seem neccessary. For now, I think five levels should suffice.

David,
So if I understand you correctly, this comment to your reply to my comment (and so on) will end here with no further "comment on this comment" link. Interesting.

Dave,
That would have been the case, but I went ahead and bumped the comment level up to six. Now it ends here.
By the way, I'm suffering a big time identity crisis here.
