Folded Wings: Tom Floyd
Sgt Thomas W. Floyd

Fran Gramberg informed us today of the passing of Thomas W Floyd, gunner on the Prytulak Crew 907. He folded his wings on September 16, 2010.

Fran's e-mail reads...

Message I received from Edie Floyd on Thursday September 16th.

"Dad died at about 5 a.m. this morning. We were all with him....even Julie had made it from Maryland. He had been in the hospital since Friday and was doing o.k. They called us at 3 a.m. and told us we needed to come to the hospital. Visitation will be Sunday evening at the Adams Funeral Home in Charleston, IL and memorial service will be Monday at the First Presbyterian Church. We have not yet met with the funeral home so we don't know exact times yet. Obituary should appear in Saturday's paper."

— Edie

I was so sorry to hear this news, Tom was such a kind soul with a natural curiosity, big smile, always ready to try anything and as Norma said "made the best pralines". The Floyds (Margaret, Edie & Julie) are regulars at our reunions and wonderful supporters of the 492nd Bomb Group. We are truely losing a member of the 492nd family.

Our "Still Flying" and "Folded Wings" listings have been updated to relect the loss of this wonderful man. Our hearts go out to the Floyd family.

More information will be posted here as we get it.
