Mills Crew R-45 (721) Summary

The Mills Replacement Crew R-45 arrived at North Pickenham during July. After getting some in-house training they were assigned to the 857th BS, designated as Crew 721.
|
|
By our initial count they flew 4 missions with the 492nd. We assume that the whole crew flew on each of these missions.
|
|
When the Crew transferred to the 453rd on 10 Aug 44, they went as an eleven man crew. Perhaps the extra NCO went along from the replacement pool of orphaned crewmen.
|
|
On 13 Sep 44 when the Mills Crew was shot down, most of this crew was still together. We have very little details to share about that day.
